"The IGT E20 game has been one of our consistent performing games since we went live last year. Our players enjoy playing game titles they recognize from the Riverboats and Casinos they also play in. Each one of our locations has at least one IGT game in it."

Pete Pontius, B & B Amusement of Illinois LLC

As the one year anniversary of the State's video gaming going live in Illinois approaches, some key observations come to mind.

Although I believe most operators would originally have loved to see a mass licensing of locations at the start, the slower roll out has allowed us, Sci Games, Operators and the IGB to learn and grow in a much more productive manner. The rules have been adapted as unique scenarios have presented themselves. The techs have been able to become more and more familiar with set ups and service issues, and the games themselves have been updated and modified to maximize their player appeal.

IGT/AVS has been very active and progressive in helping the operator with these issues. Their staff has gone out of their way to help set games in locations, and providing equipment for trade shows and seminars. Updates have been handled in a timely and professional manner. IGT/AVS has shown that they are here today to support the operators, and will be there for them in the future.

This first year was a learning process for all parties involved in this new industry. Those with previous gaming, amusement, or casino experience may have had a slight edge but no one had all of the answers. Even our regulators, the Illinois Gaming Board, were learning along with us. Using the first crawl, then walk, and then run analogy, we believe we have completed the crawling stage and we are now at the walking stage. We now have a better idea of which VGTs and game-sets play better in various types of establishments or areas.

Most of the Terminal Operators originally sought guidance from the Distributors and Manufacturers. Now the Distributors and Manufacturers are obtaining best practices from the Terminal Operators and sharing this wisdom a a conduit for the entire industry. AVS and IGT have been strong leaders in this area. The ICMOA has grown immensely in prominence by organizing information sharing forums and coordinating efforts pertinent to most of the video gaming industry.

We are all ecstatic that the average revenue per day per VGT has surpassed original predictions. We are also very pleased that the IGT VGTs have led this new industry in providing entertainment to our new customers. We look forward to working with IGT and AVS in the coming year to make it even better that this year.
